How do you dose a peptide?
You start from the vial size, add a set amount of bacteriostatic water to reconstitute it, then draw the dose on an insulin syringe. Once you know the concentration in the vial, the calculator on this site turns any target dose into the exact number of units to draw.
What does reconstitution mean?
Reconstitution is mixing bacteriostatic water into a dry peptide vial to turn the powder into a liquid you can draw. The amount of water you add sets the concentration, which is why the same vial can give very different unit counts depending on how much water goes in.
How much bacteriostatic water do you add to a vial?
There is no single right amount — more water makes each unit easier to measure, less water means a smaller injection volume. Pick an amount that puts your dose at a round, easy-to-read number of units on the syringe. The mixing chart and calculator here work this out for you.
How do you read the units on an insulin syringe?
A U-100 insulin syringe is marked in units, where 100 units equals 1 mL. So 10 units is 0.1 mL and 50 units is 0.5 mL. You draw to the line, not to a milligram figure, so the calculator converts your dose in milligrams or micrograms into units for you.
How long does a reconstituted peptide last?
Once mixed with bacteriostatic water and kept refrigerated, most reconstituted peptides stay usable for several weeks — the benzyl alcohol in the water limits bacterial growth. The exact window varies by compound, so the storage and beyond-use-dating guides cover how to judge it.
Where should you store peptides?
