Sermorelin Overview

Mechanism of Action

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid analog of the first 29 amino acids of naturally occurring Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH 1-29). It binds to GHRH receptors on anterior pituitary somatotrophs to stimulate synthesis and pulsatile secretion of endogenous growth hormone. Unlike exogenous GH, sermorelin preserves the hypothalamic-pituitary feedback loop and natural GH pulse patterns.

How is sermorelin different from CJC-1295?

Both are GHRH analogs, but sermorelin is the natural GHRH(1-29) sequence with a short half-life (~10-20 min), while CJC-1295 has amino acid substitutions for greater enzymatic resistance. Sermorelin has more clinical history and was previously FDA-approved (Geref®).

Why is sermorelin given at night?
